PSO Summer Concerts

The mission of Perth Symphony Orchestra is ‘Music for Everyone’, and we love taking the orchestra on the road and into new communities and sharing the magic of the Symphony with as many people as we can.

PSO ‘DISCOVER’ concerts: where communities discover each other, and the magic of the symphony, all in one evening.

This summer, we will be bringing the Symphony to a community near you!

Bring a picnic, bring your family, bring your entire street! These concerts are an excuse to bring everyone together for a stunning summer evening under the stars and remember to check back here regularly to see where else we will be going!

 

14th February, 2019: ‘All you need is love’ for the City of Joondalup’s Valentine’s Concert

All You Need is Love celebrates the songs that captivated a generation, 30 breathtaking Beatles masterpieces performed live in this spectacular concert event. Featuring the vocal brilliance of Jack Jones, Wes Carr, Rai Thistlethwayte and Jackson Thomas with Perth Symphony Orchestra.

Each song has been carefully chosen for their instrumentation and arrangements involving an Orchestra seamlessly integrated with the Beatles own rock sensibility. From the intimacy of Yesterday to the exuberance of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the childlike whimsy of Yellow Submarine to the intoxicating romance of Something.

23rd February, 2019: ‘Romance on the green’ for the City of Rockingham

Romance on the Green is back for 2019! As part of the City’s Summer Series of free, family friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events, join us for a magical night of music under the stars at Romance on the Green featuring Perth Symphony Orchestra and special guests conducted by Jessica Gethin.

Relax with a picnic to the sounds of your favourite film tunes, orchestra classics, rock hits and musical theatre anthems – something for everyone to enjoy! There will be a photo booth, giant games and a selection of food vendors.

24th November, 2018: ‘Music Under the Stars‘, ECU’s flagship Alumni concert

We were very excited to be part of ECU’s annual alumni concert for the second time, presenting a very special collaboration with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). With an Orchestra made up of PSO Principal players and current WAAPA Classical Music students, we will bring you an orchestral concert with a twist, performing a range of classics and contemporary hits, which will have the crowd up and dancing in no time!

 

1st December, 2018: ‘Tianqi Lithium Symphony Spectacular‘ for the City of Kwinana

Following on from the hugely successful 2017 Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony, the City of Kwinana is set to bring an event that is bigger and louder than ever before on Saturday, 1 December.

Performed as you’ve never experienced them before, with a 55-piece orchestra from Perth Symphony Orchestra and fantastic light show, the Tianqi Lithium Symphony Spectacular will feature your favourite pop and rock songs including the hits of INXS, George Michael, Queen, Icehouse, Fleetwood Mac and film classics from Star Wars, Gladiator and Slumdog Millionaire!

9th December, 2018: ‘Christmas Carols in Claremont’ for the Town of Claremont

With an exciting program including kids’ activities, a visit from Santa and carols by Perth Symphony Orchestra, this year’s Christmas Carols in Claremont will put you and your family in the Christmas spirit! Soprano Emma Pettermerides and singer/songwriter Mark Turner lead the carols, specially programmed by Musical Director and Chief Conductor Jessica Gethin.

2nd February, 2019: ‘Romance Under the Stars’ in the City of Bayswater

Get cosy with your loved one in the lead up to Valentine’s Day at the beautiful Pat O’Hara Reserve in Morley. Perth Symphony are thrilled to be on the stage playing some of your favourite tracks from artists such as Adele and Louis Armstrong! This concert features two wonderful soloists, Justin Burford (End of Fashion) and Paula Parore (AViiDA) who will be gracing the stage to sing some lovely renditions of some of your favourite tunes.

Bring a picnic blanket and a hamper or choose from our many food vendors on site as we welcome in this romantic month. This event is free of charge, more info here.
