On Sunday the 21st of January, 12 Perth Symphony musicians came together in small groups to improvise some incredible music for the new Matagarup Bridge. As you walk across the bridge there are now motion-activated sound pods that will play music inspired by themes of transience of water, conflict, crossings and life of the river.

Local composer Ash Gibson-Greig composed a short melody that our musicians improvised around, playing in different keys, at different tempi and using a variety of instruments. We played in really unusual combinations – who has ever heard of oboe, French horn, didgeridoo and guitar in collaboration before!?
