Baroque by Candlelight

in Armadale

6 May 2017

Following a hugely successful debut performance by the Perth Chamber Orchestra for the City of Armadale in 2016, PCO returns for a second year with a sumptuous program for “Baroque by Candlelight”.  Once again, the gorgeous interior of St. Matthew’s Church will be flooded with candles as the string musicians of the Perth Chamber Orchestra bring to life the music of the Baroque era.

The program will include the sublime ‘Bach Double’ – Bach’s most famous concerto for two violins – performed by Artistic Director Paul Wright and young violinist Jasmin Parkinson-Stewart, to Vivaldi’s joyful Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 to a performance of Melbourne-based pianist/composer Joe Chindamo’s work based on a Sonata by Scarlatti.

We also welcome soprano Veronique Willing, joining us for Erbarme Dich, from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion – a fitting work for St. Matthew’s Church.

The entire program will be woven together with stories that reveal the life and times of these master composers, narrated by actor Chris Isaacs from the brilliant new Western Australian theatre company, The Last Great Hunt.

PCO welcomes John Christmass OAM as Patron for this concert, and is grateful for the support of the City of Armadale, Presenting Partner Seasons Funeral Homes, and for the wine provided by Millbrook Winery.

Join us for an evening rich in music, history and tradition, with a guest appearance by one of Australia’s most respected jazz musicians Jamie Oehlers, bringing an element of surprise and delight, now a signature of all Perth Chamber Orchestra’s unique performances.

All tickets include light refreshments, and a glass of wine will be included with the evening concert tickets.

“Thank you for making the effort to come to Armadale. You touched many people. We are all still talking about your very moving performances”
– Patron, Vivaldi by Candlelight, Armadale 2016
