Congratulations to our Creative Director Fiona Campbell OAM

January 26, 2024 in Staff Announcements

A huge congratulations to our Creative Director Fiona Campbell OAM, for being recognised in the 2024 Honours List (Friday 26 January), with a Medal in the Order of Australia (General Division) for service to the performing arts through music.

The Medal of the order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service and exceptional achievements within two divisions: The General (Civil) Division and the Military Division, in which awardees from these divisions announced every year in January and June.

The arts is a platform of expression, creation, understanding and celebration of not only our own history and culture but of the worlds. It is an integral part of the way we live, improving quality of life by breaking barriers and creating connection.

Fiona’s illustrious journey through the arts reflects this and is the reason why she was awarded such a high honour, with her distinguished performing career, working at the highest levels in Australia and overseas and in turn always giving back to the local Western Australian Community.

“All of us at Perth Symphony are so thrilled to see Fiona acknowledged through this Medal in the Order of Australia.

Fiona has made an enormous contribution to the performing arts industry as a vocalist across multiple genres, as a producer and presenter, and of course as Creative Director of Perth Symphony Orchestra.

She is wonderfully talented and committed to the advancement of the arts in every aspect of her work. She takes a highly collaborative approach to her work and understands how to bring the best out in others to achieve a ‘one plus one equals three’ result.

Fiona is known and respected by artists, administrators, educators, audiences, philanthropists, corporate leaders and Government officials. Most of all, Fiona is buckets of fun to work with and is admired and respected by all at Perth Symphony.

On behalf of the musicians, staff and Board of Directors, I extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved award from the Governor General.” (Catherine Henwood, CEO of Perth Symphony Orchestra)

Within the last two weeks, Fiona has not only received the highest recognition in Australia but has also celebrated her one year as Creative Director at Perth Symphony Orchestra.

What an excellent way to start of 2024, with this being only the start of the amazing work and talent in-front and behind the scenes that Fiona Campbell will be continuing to bring to Perth Symphony Orchestra and the arts world.

Congratulations Fiona Campbell OAM.
