Sunday 25 August was the official launch of 'Green Shoots Moora'!

CEO Catherine Henwood, Creative Director Fiona Campbell OAM, Community Engagement Manager Marie-Claire Donnelly as well as fabulous PSO musicians Nick Abbey, Chris Foster and Pete Evans made their way down to Moora, for a wonderful introduction to the Shire and community on what Green Shoots is all about.

The launch started with PSO musicians filling Moora Town Hall with fabulous music whilst everyone settled in. Once settled Tracey Lefroy (Shire President) started with a 'Welcome to Country' and discussing the importance of the arts. This was a perfect Segway for PSO CEO Catherine to discuss the idea behind Green Shoots and Creative Director Fiona to further mention the importance and impact in the community such a program can make: Green Shoots ,a year-long innovative initiative bringing together a wide array of community members and surrounding areas through volunteering, logistics, planning, and performance. With PSO offering professional guidance and mentoring to local participants. Community music groups will be formed, with ongoing training provided up until the grand finale performance in March 2025.

Getting more into the nitty gritty, Marie-Claire (PSO Community Engagement Manager) dived into the timeline of the project and how both PSO and Moora shall be getting started on this exciting venture, with the first residency to be, Tuesday 17 September, 2024.

To finish off a successful launch, PSO's jazz trio did a feature performance for those who attended before everyone broke out into the nibbles.

Another reason why this launch was particularly special, was it kicked off the wonderful partnership we now have with 'Healthway' promoting the ActBelongCommit message.
